Among Avatar's top installments receives its own Magic: The Gathering special card drop.
Usually, recap episodes are loathed among audiences as a needless diversion, or sometimes accepted as a necessity in television during the period of episodic releases. However, this wasn't the case, though Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this through "The Ember Island Players," a popular segment in its last season now being receiving a special Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection.

The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collection was revealed recently. This includes five distinct sets, and even though a set named "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly funny homage to the series' beloved recurring figure, the remaining sets feel a bit uninspired, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players."
Based on episode 17 of the third season of the animated show, this collector's drop includes these particular cards:
- 1x Phantasmal Image portrayed as "Absolutely Accurate Actor"
- 1x Braid of Fire
- 1x Cursed Mirror
- 1x Mask of Memory
- 1x Thespian's Stage
Why this installment stands out
Viewers of Avatar warmly cherish this episode, which acted as a review of Aang and his companions' journey prior to the final episode. Different from typical clip shows, or "clip shows," "The Ember Island Players" was not driven by budget restrictions or scheduling problems. The show's makers genuinely intended to provide audiences an opportunity to revisit the series' story, however, they opted to approach it inventively.
Throughout the segment, the heroes observe a play based on their exploits on a stage set on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is inaccurate, cheesy, and overall hilarious. It works as it plays on the characters' views of themselves, contrasting them with how the world (and notably the Fire Nation) sees them. It possesses an ideal level of meta-commentary, and it results in possibly the top rendition of the show released so far.

When it comes to cost-effectiveness, this is a great Secret Lair because of one major element: Braid of Fire. This specific card trades for $20 and $40 through card retailers currently, and for $29.99 you can snag the entire Secret Lair, or alternatively $39.99 for the shiny edition.
Magic: The Gathering's Avatar: The Last Airbender collection can be accessed for advance previews beginning November 14 and releases worldwide on Nov. 21.
